Carolyn
Practicum Counsellor

Carolyn is a dedicated and committed counsellor-in-training whose purposeful transition into therapy work follows a meaningful 20-year career in education and coaching. As a former MOE PE teacher, ITE lecturer and netball coach, she has worked closely with children, adolescents, and young adults across both academic and sports settings.
Over the years, Carolyn developed a deep appreciation for the emotional and psychological needs of individuals — beyond their performance or grades. Combined with her own personal journey of growth and healing, these experiences inspired her mid-career switch into the mental health field, fulfilling a long-held aspiration to support individuals more deeply and holistically. She now brings compassion, insight, and lived experience into creating a safe, supportive space for others.
Carolyn's counselling approach is grounded in authenticity, empathy, and a deep respect for each person's unique story. She is especially passionate about supporting youth, individuals feeling lost or overwhelmed, and those seeking personal growth and well-being. She believes in walking alongside clients with care, openness, and confidentiality — through the heavy days, confusing thoughts, and the quiet need for someone who truly listens — supporting them as they explore, heal, and navigate life with greater clarity and self-compassion.
As a mother of two teenagers (and more recently, a dog), Carolyn brings a lived understanding of the challenges of motherhood, parenting, marriage, and family life. In her free time, she enjoys learning new things, volunteering, playing mahjong with friends, connecting over meaningful conversations, a good iced latte or tea, and great food — and winding down with a good book.
